Cory in the House is an American television sitcom, which aired on the Disney Channel from January 12, 2007 to September 13, 2008 and was a spin-off from the Disney show That’s So Raven. The show focuses on Cory Baxter, who moved from San Francisco, California to Washington, D.C., after Victor Baxter gets a new job in the White House as the official head chef. The series marks a Disney Channel first, as it is the channel’s first spin-off. Everybody Hates Chris is an American television narrative sitcom that depicts the troubled teenage experiences of comedian Chris Rock while growing up in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, New York City. The show is set between 1982 and 1987, but Rock himself was a teenager between 1978 and 1983. Rock grew up with a boy named Kenny Montero, whom he has often referred to as the inspiration for a lot of the episodes. In many of his interviews, Rock has described Kenny as the reason he got into comedy in the first place. The show’s title parodies the hit CBS sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond, in which Rock stated: “Everybody Loves Raymond, but Everybody Hates Chris!”. The show’s lead actors are Tyler James Williams, Terry Crews, Tichina Arnold, Tequan Richmond, Imani Hakim, and Vincent Martella.
In 2008, the The CW moved Everybody Hates Chris and The Game to the Friday night death slot. The fourth season of the series premiered Friday, October 3, 2008, at 8:00PM Eastern/7:00PM Central. On May 21, 2009, The CW announced that it had cancelled Everybody Hates Chris. Prior to this, Rock announced that the end of season 4 matched up with his own past—dropping out of high school to become a comedian—and that it was time to end the show.
Five-time Emmy Award winner Neil Patrick Harris is coming to NBC on a new primetime variety series based on the U.K.’s hugely popular “Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.” The show will feature comedy sketches, musical numbers, mini game shows, hidden camera pranks on celebrities and appearances by A-list stars. Harris, who has served as an Emmy and Tony Award host and was recently announced as host of the 2015 Academy Awards, will bring his multi-dimensional skills to the forefront of this new hour-long series. Harris recently co-starred in David Fincher’s “Gone Girl,” and finished a run on Broadway as the lead in “Hedwig and the Angry Inch,” for which he won a Tony Award for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical. For nine seasons he played the role of Barney Stinson on “How I Met Your Mother,” for which he received four Emmy and two Golden Globe nominations.
Tyler Perry’s House of Payne is an American comedy-drama television series created and produced by playwright, director, and producer Tyler Perry. The show revolved around a multi-generational family living under one roof in Atlanta led by patriarch Curtis Payne and his wife Ella. The show premiered in syndication on June 21, 2006, and new episodes were broadcast exclusively on TBS from June 6, 2007, until August 10, 2012. While primarily a comedy sitcom, House of Payne was known for featuring dark themes and subject matter, such as substance abuse and addiction. It also had elements of slapstick. The storyline of the show is serialized, with many references to past episodes, creating a continuing story arc.
