Blade Runner 60 moves the film’s action to London, and takes inspiration from the novel ‘Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep.’ The Empire Magazine cut was 60 seconds long – this is around 5 minutes. During a writer’s block that all artists come across at some point in their lifetime, Rodner met Paul Louis Harrell while directing another short film. The plot revolves around an electricity failure on the west coast of the US. According to the film’s official timeline, that failure leads to cities shutting down, financial and trade markets are thrown into chaos, and food supplies dwindle. There’s no proof as to what caused the blackouts, but Replicants — the bio-engineered robots featured in the original Blade Runner, are blamed.
